Shaping the future of Europe
PEACE
My image of peace

87%
of the world’s population lives in countries
with a higher risk of violence and conflict.
100 million
people have been displaced due to violence and conflict in 2023.
450 million
children live in countries affected by armed conflict.
The main objective of PEACE
is to vividly convey the values that EUROPE stands for: human dignity, freedom, democracy, gender equality and Rule of law.
Democracy in Europe is in crisis. Citizens are currently shaken by the war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022. With PEACE, we are addressing the current challenges and stress factors affecting democracy in Europe and actively involving citizens. We want to contribute to the success of “peaceful relations” between Europeans by bringing citizens into action and actively involving them in our cities of this network, Lüneburg, Timisoara, Kifissia, Mechelen and Izola. We want to create a new, pro-equality and future-oriented narrative for Europe, addressing young citizens in particular. In our cities, through the activities of PEACE, we want to give citizens of all ages the opportunity to get involved, counteract their powerlessness and engage with Europe, its values and its achievements – especially European citizenship – 30 years after the Maastricht Treaty.
This network is intended to promote European identity and thus strengthen awareness of the European Union.
PEACE
Knowledge about democratic processes often remains abstract. That’s why we decided to create an interactive experience installation with our PEACE project. It is an awareness-raising measure that raises awareness of the values of democracy and Europe through interactive exhibits in four European cities.
